Props - Updated

Electric Guitar - This will be played by Will the lead singer, this is a convention of rock videos for the lead singer to be playing some type of guitar. He will be seen playing the electric guitar in the performance scenes of the video.

Bass - This will be played by a band member Lewis and will be seen in the performance part of the video.

Drums - This will be used in the band scene which will be played by another member of the band Kane.

Amps - We are going to have amps on the stage for the performance part of the video, they will be positioned by the lead singer and bassist as these are the two instruments who conventionally are played through amps. We thought that amps are a good idea, due to it allowing the singer and bassist to use them in their poses and body language.

Photo Album - This is used to show past memories of Henry and his ex, we thought this would be a good prop to use as its something some people do after being heartbroken to look through old photos and see how things have changed.

Beer Bottle - On the table next to the photo-album you are able to see a beer bottle. We chose to use this prop as it connotes the actors depression due to the breakup. This is because the relationship were his best days of his life.

Pen and Paper - To link the narrative and performance together we are going to have the lead singer and the main narrative character writing the lyrics of the song together. In these shots there is a pen and notebook, for them to write the lyrics and ideas down on.

Mise-en-scene

Costume
Performance
The actors will be wearing casual clothing such as Jeans, T shirt and Converses.
These are generic conventions of rock.
Narrative
The actors will be wearing casual clothing. The male will wear jeans and a plain T shirt. The female will wear jeans and a top.

Lighting
Performance
Stage Lighting. Orangey yellow spot lights which will be focused on the drummer and guitarist. The lead singer will look silhouetted against the white backdrop. This makes all of the band members stand out to the audience at different times of the video depending on what angle the camera is at.
Narrative
Natural daylight for the scenes outside, natural daylight coming through the window for the inside scenes. This will help make the shots more effective than high-key or low-key lighting would as they don't take any attention away from the actual story line of the narrative.

Actors
Performance
Will will be playing the lead singer
Lewis will be playing the electric guitar.
Kane will be playing the drums.
Actions will include performing in set position, walking around stage and performing at the same time (except drummer)
Narrative
Henry will be playing the main narrative character.
Hollie will be playing the love interest.
Actions will include holding hands, hugging, looking in love, holding hands, then letting go when they break up.

Make-up
Performance
None of the actors will wear make-up. Due to them being male and not into wearing make-up.
Narrative
Main character doesn't wear any make-up.
Love interest will wear make-up, a good amount of make-up due to her spending time with her boyfriend.

Props
Performance
Guitar, Drums, Bass these are the instruments which will be played by the band members. Amps will also be used to make it look more authentic.
Equipment- Cameras, tripod and lighting equipment
Narrative
Photo-album which will show pictures of the main narrative character and the love interest when they were a couple. Alcoholic beverage which is going to be a beer bottle.
Equipment - Camera, tripod

Setting
Performance
School Hall - the setting is going to be in the school hall because they had the band at school and we feel that this makes it link to the lyrics well.
Narrative
Park - the shots in the park will be of the main character and love interest, the shots will be of the couple when they are together as well as when they break-up.
Flat, Main character
House - we are going to include shots which are of the love interests house, the shots will be off the love interest in the house and also the main narrative character walking past outside the house.

We are using both performance and narrative and then will be switching between them when editing.

Lighting

Today we were shown how to operate the lighting equipment in the hall. We are using the lighting for the band scene which will be shot in the school hall. After going through a tutoiral of how to turn on the lights, how to move them and how to change the effects we were able to choose how we wanted the lights to be.
We have chosen a yellow orange for the spotlight and have named it sunset on the programm, this means it should be easy to find when we actually use it for filming.
We have also pre-set the positioning of the lights, so they should be in the right position when we go to use them.

Audition

We decided to do an audition for who was going to play the love interest in our music video. The choice was between Danielle Burns and Hollie Furniss.
For the other actors we decided that we wouldn't be needing auditions as we were set in our choices, this is because we knew how good at acting they were already and they we available to film at the same time.

After the audition we chose to go with having Hollie acting as the love interest for the narrative part of the video, this is becuase her acting was very good and compared to Dani she worked well with Henry. This would be important as every scene that she's in, she's in it with Henry. Other reasons that we chose her were that she fit the role well and is also avalable for filming when it fit in with our shooting schedule best.

Props

Acoustic Guitar - We decided to use an acoustic guitar as it is the 'old six string' which is mentioned several times throughout the song.

Electric Guitar - This will be played by Henry in the band scene, this is because lead singers are usually seen playing a guitar as well as singing.

Bass Guitar - this will be used in the band scene played by another member of the band who is called 'Jimmy'.

Drums - this will be used in the band scene which will be played by another member of the band who will be 'Jody'.
Mobile Phone - This will be held by Henry when he is wondering whether or not to call his ex partner, we thought a phone would be a good prop to use because its something that a modern teenager spends a lot of time on talking to friends.

Mise-en-scene

Here are our plan's for what mise-en-scene we are going to include in our music video.

Cast and Roles

Here are our current cast and roles for our music video.

Henry Inman
Will play the lead singer as well as the main narrative character. Henry is a confident A Level Drama student, he should therefore be able to act well and be willing to do any shots which an inexperienced person may be more reserved to do. He's in our group and knows what shots he wants and what he wants in them so should act them well.

Danielle Burns
Dani will play the love interest for the narrative parts of the video. She is pretty and fits the role well. She use to study media so knows the rules of how actors are meant to be in front of the camera and what makes a good image. She's a good friend so will act to the best of her ability so we are able to get a good video.

Will Davidson
Will will be in the band and play the bass in the performance part of the video. He is good at music and plays the bass in his spare time. He is able to play "Summer of 69" on the bass, which will make it more realistic, it will also mean that he is in his comfort zone when playing an instrument. He also studies media so knows what good acting looks like.

Jordan Chilvers
Jordan will play the electric guitar in the band for the performance aspects of the video. We chose him becuase hehimtudies drama and has always been a good actor, because he acts in his spare time he will be confident with acting in front of a camera.

Drummer: Jenni Rayner
Jenni is also a drama student, she is willing to play a part with an instrument and is able to pick up beats of songs fast; this is because she enjoys listening to music. This means that she will be able to work out the beat of "Summer of 69" and play the drums to this beat.

One of the main reasons we chose the people above is because most of them have studied drama and enjoy acting so they should feel comfortable being in the music video.

Camera and Directing: Charlie Bradley
We decided that I would be the director and camera operator becuase I didn't want to act in the video. Also between me and Henry, we thought that I would be able to work with the technology better as well as frame the shot well. With Henry acting in the majority of the video, we thought it would be hard for him to direct the people around him as this would affect his acting therefore I will be doing the directing.
