Digipak Analysis 2

The Kooks - Inside In The Inside Out
This is the debut album by The Kooks and was released in 2006.

This is the front of the Kooks digipak. When you first look at the album the first thing that stands out is the titles at the top of the digipak. The name of the artist/band is in black with the album title in red.
The composition of the photo is effective because of three band members up at the foreground of the image and then another member in the background of the image. The people in the image aren't looking at the photo, this connotes that they are at band practice rather than performing to anyone. I think that the front panel is very simplistic due to the lack of colour except the red and with the white background, this is effective and shows that the band don't need all lots of colour and effects as 'its all about the music'.

This is the back panel of the digipak.
The track-listing is at the top left of the back panel which is a convention of digipaks. However the bar-code and production company & copyright info are at the top right of the panel which is not usually seen on digipaks. I think this is effective for this band as it shows that their different to the usual typical bands. The picture is like the one on the front but from a different angle, I think that this shows how much the band practice and is an effective thing to have on an album cover.

This is the CD which is inside the digipak. The CD is red, with the band name in black and then the album name in white. These are the colours which are used throughout the digipak. There is also information at the top of the CD in black font, this is a small size as its not very aesthetically pleasing if it were larger text. You are able to see all of the bands name and the first o is actually the hole in the CD which is effective. Whereas the album name is cut of around the edges which again is effective as you see that the most important thing on the CD is the bands name and then after this the album name.

Overall I like this digipak because there is a colour scheme throughout the digipak, red black and white. I think that this makes the digipak more simplistic but still effective as it doesn't look cluttered with lots of different colour.
